Hello! My name is Carol Wright, and I am a writer, public speaker, and entrepreneur.
During my senior year of high school, I founded NYOTA Magazine, an online publication focused on featuring emerging stars in music, fashion, and culture. NYOTA has allowed me to interview up-and-coming actors, musicians, YouTubers, content creators, and entrepreneurs throughout the past seven years. I have also taken photos of talent for covers and created photoshoots for inside features. During my college years, internships at Music Week, 9:30 Club, and The Tempest allowed me to write music news roundups, album reviews, and articles ranging from mental health to music score.
I am an experienced public speaker who gave a TEDx talk in 2016 called "Getting Past The Why," which focused on the lessons I learned from creating NYOTA. In 2017 I co-emceed one of Soledad O'Brien's PowHERful conferences in New York City. After my senior year of college, I interned with Passion River Films and moderated two conversations with those involved in "American Trial: The Eric Garner Story."
I graduated from American University, where I received my BA in Journalism and minored in Business and Entertainment. After my senior year at American University, I got accepted into Harvard Business School's 2+2 program. I have 2-4 years to gain work experience before going to HBS to receive my MBA.
